Throughout the life span all of us are faced with loss. It may be loss of a parent, child, partner, spouse, or friend. Though much has been written about stages of grief, it is clear that there is little predictability in the way individuals deal with loss and no set time limit as to the degree loss affects our emotions and quality of life. Dr. Welsh has written, spoken, and counseled many individuals and families dealing with the anticipation of loss and the actual experience when it is faced. There are numerous ways to assist with the adjustment we must all make in this unavoidable circumstance, and the way we acknowledge and adjust determines how we live the life we have.
